Get the best of both worlds! A cabinet with mixed speakers is a terrific way to spice up the sonic recipe and get a complex tone texture.

The Black Dog and Free Bird speakers were designed so that each has its own sonic character and personality, and with the intention that they would complement each other magnificently. We've been using the trick to mix speakers in our cabs since the very early days, therefore we made sure the speakers we were designing would be perfectly matched for such application.

The result is a cabinet that covers any sonic territory with ease, great for pretty much everything. Unless we need a specific sound given by the character of either the Black Dog, or the Free Bird, a mixed speakers cabinet is a great way to benefit from the strenghts of both. Plus, we have the added flexibility to decide which speaker we want to microphone in recording settings. Always when recording, to get the best of both simply stick a microphone in dead center facing the cab 1 foot away from the speakers grille. It works and sounds phenomenal!

It's once more worth noting that we have our speakers made by a great UK-based supplier. They do all their designing and manufacturing in their factory near Leeds, so we are talking no Asian-bull here.
