We have long been building electric guitars on a custom order basis. We've always drawn our inspiration from the guitars, that have made the story of modern music as we know it.  The development of musical styles has gone hand in hand with the development of the 'spanish guitar' for the past 80 years or so, with mutual influence so that it's hard to tell whether the music changed because of the guitar, or vice versa.  Fact is, we've always been fascinated by 'genuine' guitar tones, that lay their basis on the sound of wood.  Are we 'retro'-minded? We might as well be, in that we believe that the design of the electric guitar has reached its fullness and perfection between the late '50s and early '60s. By then, there was really nothing else to add or tweak to the set or bolt-on neck designs, to make them any better: the guitars were already sounding pretty damn good as they were, and ready to provide tools for the creation of music to generations of musicians.

Following our vision, we've always liked to stay true to the guidelines that keep electric guitars within the boundaries of the things that will make a guitar sound good: careful selection of seasoned woods, educated craftsmanship, attention to details.  We like to make guitars that sound good, feel great and are able to work night after night for the gigging musician.

Enter our own electric guitar design: the Brontocaster, Dino's Guitars first 'series' offering, which will soon be available for purchase (*).  Never meaning to re-invent the wheel, we simply integrated a simple, time-tested design with a few twists of our own.

Since we are acoustic steel-string guitar geeks, and since Northern Italy is a great place to source fantastic quality red spruce (Italian Alpine spruce), this is what we make our Brontocasters bodies of.  Which makes for  extremely resonant guitars, with just the right overtones and very light in weight.  Following the tradition of old-world cabinetmaking, and because we feel there's no better way to assemble musical instruments, we use high quality hot hide glue in the construction of our guitars. This makes for the best and most musical wood to wood bond known to mankind.  We finish the Brontocaters with the least possible quantity of nitrocellulose lacquer, as we feel that there's no better sounding finish.  It takes just more time and care to apply than most other finishes used in the guitar industry today. But the sonic benefits are well worth it.  (...to be continued...)
